Music

“Music is all around us. It is the soundtrack to our lives. Music connects us through people and places in our ever-changing world. It is creative, collaborative, celebratory and challenging. In our schools, music can bring communities together through the shared endeavour of whole-school singing, ensemble playing, experimenting with the creative process and, through the love of listening to friends and fellow pupils, performing. The sheer joy of music making can feed the soul of a school community, enriching each student while strengthening the shared bonds of support and trust which make a great school.”

The staff at Timu Academy Trust are passionate about music, and led by a specialist multi-instrumentalist and music teacher, music education is provided to all.

From listening and appraising through to rehearsing and performing, every child at TIMU has the opportunity to learn about countless genres of music and learn to play many different instruments.  Through listening to a vast selection of music from all around the world, the children are able to discuss and describe accurately all of the inter related elements that make up music.

Developing singing and aural skills greatly enhances the ways in which the children will learn to play the ukulele, recorder, ocarina and a selection of tunes percussion instruments.  Lessons are designed to relate to as many different topic areas as possible to keep music truly cross curricular.

Below are some links to show a few examples of some of the topics within music that we all learn about.
